How Solar Panels Work:

a. Solar Cell Construction: Solar panels are comprised of individual solar cells, usually made of silicon, which are interconnected to form a module. These cells contain semiconductors that absorb photons from sunlight.

b. Photon Absorption: When sunlight strikes the solar cell, the semiconductors absorb the photons, causing the release of electrons. This creates a flow of electricity known as a direct current (DC).

c. Electrical Conversion: The DC electricity generated by the solar cells is then converted into alternating current (AC) through an inverter. AC power is the standard form of electricity used in homes and businesses.

d. Grid Connection and Storage: Solar energy can be used directly to power homes or businesses, or it can be fed back into the grid. Additionally, excess energy can be stored in batteries for later use during periods of low sunlight.
